Yota – Strangers on Film

“Strangers on Film” is the latest release from the Swedish born French-based YOTA, queen of nudisco. This album stretches limits and redefines boundaries – easily changing the pace of NRW releases and keeping things fresh!

Featuring absolutely pristine vocals and mixing, “Strangers on Film” is a journey through nudisco and dreamwave and even beyond. “Limelight” is easily one of the best disco-influenced tracks we’ve heard in years, feeling instantly Iconic. Then we have “En Ligne,” more reminiscent of an upgraded American beat-pop that’s recently been sweeping the charts.

Then some of the album almost borders on experimental, with lush ethereal nearly ambient synths on “In the Light,” French spoken word in “Strangers on Film,” and the terrifying and tearful statement piece “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”

All in all, Yota has created a piece of art that aspires to greatness. Multi-dimensional and superb, this release feels less like a collection of tracks and more like an experience.
