Throwback Thursday – Profil – Leb wohl mein Schatz

This 1983 underground hit by Profil, “Leb wohl mein Schatz” or “Farewell my darling,” is a fantastic blend of Neue Deutsche Welle and Synthpop -a true classic for our first Throwback Thursday! We will be featuring throwbacks – some retro, some more recent – keep your eyes peeled for these gems every Thursday!

The Neue Deutsche Welle, or “New German Wave” evolved from post punk and new wave to take the German underground by storm in the late 70s until the early 80s. Around 84′ the genre began to die out – with critics calling it stale and manufactured. Although the NDW’s stay as a genre was relatively short lived, it’s influences are still being felt today.
