THE MIDNIGHT – The Nocturnal
In preparation for The Midnight’s new album we take a look at their previous masterpiece ‘Nocturnal’…

A VHS musical fueled adventure through much loved 80’s tropes, blending action, romance and horror in equal measure. Nocturnal promises not only splendid nostalgia-drenched-analogue-soaked sounds, but the incredible visuals of your synthwave dreams.
The perfect gift for lovers of Retrowave-Outrun-80’s aficionados everywhere, a true audio love letter to the 1980’s whilst blending modern production elements…
Living in symptoms of the night before, a lifetime ago, decades before us, strange time lapses, detached from the things you see in the present but still there existing in the ether.
At times there is space to breathe and imagine, buoyant pads, lucid lead lines, hanging very close to the lighter and more pop-oriented variety of Retrowave. At others tracks are steeped in analogue dread, seeping synths, percolating intense arpeggios.
The album as a whole can be summarised by this visual- A hill overlooking the cityscape, soaking up the sun at this height, seeing the whole city and the sun setting behind it shimmering in synthwave lines. Then night falls and the world is bathed in darkness, a violent neon hum, a moody synthscape filled with brooding ghostly vocal tones that will chill you to the bone and leave you in the best possible way: haunted.
