THOR RAGNAROK SOUNDTRACK

Bubbling under the surface of the fairly generic Hollywood-comic-book-action soundtrack there is another soundtrack at work. A score full of dreamy arps, retro synth basses, sparkling keys and gauzy pads. An 80s-sci-fi inspired spin on the synthwave aesthetic.

Com Truise – Iteration

So it is with “Iteration,” the third full length album from the Synth God Com Truise – a.k.a Seth Haley. Nearly 5 years since his last album release, Com Truise continues a loose narrative that follows the epic journey of an eponymous synthetic astronaut and his perilous travels through space and time to a far flung galaxy. This last update to the saga, “Iteration,” finds him falling in love with an alien girl and their attempt to escape a foreign, hostile planet.

College – Shanghai

David Grellier, aka College, is a synthwave pioneer. Whether you know it or not, he is likely one of the major reasons you even listen to retrosynth music – unless, of course, you were around for the first generation of synth music. Hell, it’s not a stretch to say College’s work is, in part, why outlets like NRW even exist.

Satellite Young – Self Titled

Satellite Young’s debut album hit the net only a few days ago, and it’s already turning heads and racking up the Bandcamp downloads. This self-titled LP is a fresh take on synthwave that bends the genre into new and interesting territory – an deft mix of kawaii and cool.
