FM-84 – Los Angeles EP

Despite coming to this EP with low expectations, having heards hundreds of takes on the whole LA, synth city theme with varying degrees of success, I was pleasantly surprised. The tracks are expertly, expertly produced with slick synths that perfecly coallesce.

John Carpenter: Dark Myth Weaver of the 1980s

Many of John Carpenter’s films have common threads that stitch them gently together. For instance, the majority of the visuals (camerawork, exposures, etc.) create a mood that is not only nightmarishly dark but also thrown into stark, bold contrast. It creates the effect of a spooky slap in the face. Carpenter is also known for scoring many of his own movies, and doing a superb job of it.

JK47 – Cyberpunk LP

I first came across JK47’s soundcloud via tumblr a few months ago and much like DREAM Catalogue has become something of a new found treat for me.Cyberpunk was released back in August 2014 and is a thirteen track expression of the future from the past, that is equal parts Natural City (2003) and Masamune Shirow’s Tank Police.
