After coming in twice in our top 10 EP’s of the year in 2016 and 2018, Slvmber is back again with a delicious sophomore LP, “Teenage Crimes.”
This album is a luscious continuation of the inspired Slvmber sound – rich melodies wrapped in stuttering Com Truise inspired beats and staccato bass synths. In “Teenage Crimes” however, we see Slvmber stretch his melodies a bit more, resulting a more fulfilled sound.
As retrosynth and outrun sounds get recycled over and over it’s getting harder for artists to sound distinctive while still maintaining that retrowave aesthetic. This is where Slvmber nails a critical success – in creating something fresh but still within a genre framework.
