The Midnight’s Drops Amazing New Track “Lost Boy”

Lost Boy Cover

Few artists in the scene can make a release feel like an event the way that The Midnight can. Since the band’s debut with 2014’s excellent EP Days of Thunder, the duo comprised of Tim McEwen and Tyler Lyle has carved out a unique space in the synthwave genre through undeniably strong musicianship, impressive vocals laced with catchy hooks, and a willingness to experiment with other electronic styles. The Midnight’s fantastic 2017 Nocturnal EP eve claimed the top spot in our yearly round up. Their newest track “Lost Boy” is an indication that the duo is poised to surpass that release as their best work once more new music drops.

This exclusive track incorporates those dreamy and melancholic elements that The Midnight does but with an extra layer of sheen in its production that helps the vocals convey a sense of sincerity that is palpable. The first half of the chorus is one of the most powerful vocal performances anywhere in the genre. The second half follows by deconstructing it with glitchy vocal manipulations that feels right at home in synthwave despite being more common in future bass and trap.
