So it is with “Iteration,” the third full length album from the Synth God Com Truise – a.k.a Seth Haley. Nearly 5 years since his last album release, Com Truise continues a loose narrative that follows the epic journey of an eponymous synthetic astronaut and his perilous travels through space and time to a far flung galaxy. This last update to the saga, “Iteration,” finds him falling in love with an alien girl and their attempt to escape a foreign, hostile planet.
Danger, a.k.a. Franck Rivoire, the elusive black mage of synthwave, is back in a big fashion – leaping from the shadows and straight into the spotlight with his first full-length album, “Taiko.”
Listen and enjoy. This EP will be a great one!
The much beloved synth siren Dana Jean Pheonix is back with her third, long-awaited full length album, “Synth City.” This collection of tracks is a powerful mix of dreamwave and synthpop – a true testament to just how amazing retro vocals can be when done properly.
Gear up, and prepare your ears for some ruthless synth and beats. “Godspeed Us To The Stars” is the quintessential sound we have grown to love from Mega Drive
It isn’t very often, however, that synthwave successfully merges with dance music. Midnight Driver’s latest release, “Discotek”, does just that – and, most importantly, does it well.
David Grellier, aka College, is a synthwave pioneer. Whether you know it or not, he is likely one of the major reasons you even listen to retrosynth music – unless, of course, you were around for the first generation of synth music. Hell, it’s not a stretch to say College’s work is, in part, why outlets like NRW even exist.
Kalax is back in a truly grand fashion with his astounding and cinematic self-titled sophomore album.
Satellite Young’s debut album hit the net only a few days ago, and it’s already turning heads and racking up the Bandcamp downloads. This self-titled LP is a fresh take on synthwave that bends the genre into new and interesting territory – an deft mix of kawaii and cool.
When you return home after travelling long distances, far and away through various time-zones, clouds, sunsets, you’re neither here nor there. You are probably somewhere in between the two trying to keep your mind and your body in the same place.
Morgan Willis is yet another french producer that has been steadily gaining notoriety in the synthwave genre. Seriously, what’s in the water over there? Fresh off the successes of last year’s mega-album, “Miami Calling,” (which carved out a solid spot on our “Top Ten Retrowave Albums of 2016”) “Turbo Flash” is speeding into the spotlight.
