The German based synth machine Compilerbau, aka Rudi Koller, is back with another astounding release entitled “Trickster’s Paradise.”
“…Almost every track on this album feels iconic in a familiar, but also foreign way. Although it is sung entirely in Slavic, the sad, nostalgic themes still resonate deeply – the sonic accomplishment surpassing language itself.”
After rotting in the crypt for another year, CONFRONTATIONAL, aka Massimo Usai, is back with a delightfully devilish new album, “The Burning Dawn.” I’m pleased to state that like a cask of blistering bourbon or a fine, blood-red wine – Usai’s work only seems to get better as time shuffles by.
Bubbling under the surface of the fairly generic Hollywood-comic-book-action soundtrack there is another soundtrack at work. A score full of dreamy arps, retro synth basses, sparkling keys and gauzy pads. An 80s-sci-fi inspired spin on the synthwave aesthetic.
