Throughout the record’s 14 tracks, the producer has managed to distil the purest essence of melancholy that will tug at the heartstrings of any young adult having spent their childhood with a handheld Nintendo console. Bare-boned as the production may be, smokey64’s debut makes its case by the sheer effectiveness of its ideas and will keep you hooked until it’s time to reach for that replay button.
