Summer ’89 – ORAX

A killer new single from ORAX is here! “Summer ’89” just dropped over on bandcamp, and whew boy is it a doozey! His last album, “Film,” took a bit more of a cinematic approach, but “Summer ’89” seems to be more reminiscent of ORAX’s 2018 album Tearwave, which tore into the #6 spot of our top synthwave albums of 2018 – so a total banger might be coming!

“Summer 89” comes ahead of ORAX’s next album, “LOVE KILLS THE DEMON,” set to debut via NRW sometime this summer. If this single is anything to go by, we’re in for quite a treat. The production value here seems to have increased a bit, and the album may have more of a focus on upbeat tracks ready to cut the rug – but it’s too soon to tell from just one single. We’re also wondering if the new album will contain any vocals.

Orax Synthwave Darksynth

“Summer ’89” itself is an uptempo chugging synth piece with kicks suited for the dancefloor. It starts off with a signature ORAX crunchy floating bassline before introducing some almost 90’s styled stabs similar to something you might have heard in the original Mortal Kombat movie before someone’s head got ripped off. Finally, in true ORAX fashion, it’s rounded off with some sick guitar licks and a nostalgic synth lead that makes our ears water for more!

Also… is that spaceship in the single’s cover? What’s up with that?!

Check out the “Summer ’89” single ASAP, you won’t be disappointed – and keep your eyes peeled for his upcoming album “LOVE KILLS THE DEMON” releasing sometime this summer on NRW!
